Blues and Brews Festival In Reno

Let's hear it for the Blues and Brews festival in Reno last weekend.  Hot August Nights came early to Reno this year.  The weather was hot and in the 90's much like the temps during the Hot August Nights festival.  This years Blues and Brews festival in downtown last weekend Reno was a great event.  Lots of live blues music from bands all across the country including my favorite, the JC Smith Band along with the Delta Wires, Chris Cain, Lee Rocker, and Shane Dwight.

There was lots of great BBQ and other foods along with the opportunity to wash it all down with over 20 micro-brews from all of the country including Reno's own custom made beers made on-site in the Eldorado's on Brew Brothers.

If you are a blues fan and didn't get to attend the event this year you really missed out on a great time.  Make plans to catch this event in 2011.  Great weekend events in Reno continue thru September, 2010.  Come out and enjoy the great variety of actives in Reno and don't forget that Artown starts July 1st.

Reno Tahoe Open Golf Championship

The PGA is coming back to Reno for the 12th consecutive year.  This event is hosted by Montreux Golf and Country Club on a Jack Nicklaus designed signature course.  The tournament has new dates this year and takes place from July 12-18.  This tournament will be covered on TV by the Golf Channel.  If you like to watch golf this is a must see event.  There are lots of things to do at the tournament in addition to watching golf.  There is great food, a wine walk, and the Fiesta Loco tent on the 16th hole complete with great Mexican food and live mariachi's.  That's where you will find me.  Come and enjoy this great event.  For more information go to www.renotahoeopen.com.

Artown In Reno

I can't believe that half of the year is gone.  Wow.  The 15th annual Reno celebration of the arts called Artown is almost ready to begin.  This is a month long series of activities and events in the Reno area that showcase the arts.  There is something for everyone at Artown and the best part is most of the event are free.  The events include music, dance, visual arts, and performances.  For more information of this great event go to www.renoisartown.com.  We hope to see you at some of these great events.

SPRING SOMERSETT STATISTICS

Spring is here! (well if you don't count the snow yesterday). Our Real Estate is moving fast and the inventory is extremely low. If you are thinking about selling now would be a very good time, we have a lot of buyers looking around and considering moves from different states.

We currently only have 52 homes actively for sale and that includes the Village, The Vue, and Del Webb. This is an extremely low number considering our total number of homes is 1792. Our sales rate (called absorbtion rate) is just over 10 homes per month and so using this, and with no additional homes coming on to the market, we have five months of inventory. A balanced market is considered to be six months of inventory.

Check out the daffodils trying to appear and have a great Spring!

Wacky Fun Event!-Spring It On

Every year Northstar at Tahoe ski resort hold an end of season fun event that you don't want to miss. This year it is called "Spring It On" and the date is Saturday April 10th.

There will also be live music on at the Lodge at Big Springs deck and on the village stage. The ponds skimming will take place from 11.30am until 2pm. Grab your craziest costume and join in the fun. All participants will need to sign a waiver and anyone under 18 will need a guardian signature also, get there early to sign up.

Home Affordable Foreclosure Alternatives - HAFA

The Home Affordable Foreclosure Alternatives - Short Sale and Deed-in-Lieu of Foreclosure (HAFA) is a supplemental program to the Home Afffordable Modification Program (HAMP) that was started last year with the goal of decreasing the number of home foreclosures in the US.

The goal of HAMP was to help home owners stay in their homes with loan modifications.  The goal of HAFA is to standardize the short sale and deed in lieu process between home owners, lenders, loan service companies (banks), real estate agents, title companies, and any other agency that may have an interest in the property.  This program can provide up to $1,500 to the home owner to help with relocation from the property.

Please let us kniow if you would like additional information on HAFA or HAMP
