Hot August Nights - WOW

Well it's the time of year when everyone who is either visiting Reno or lives in Reno can turn back the clock to the golden days of fast cars, cool chicks, and great music.  Yes it is Hot August Nights time in Reno.  This is the premier Reno event of the year.  So all you groovy chicks and daddy-o's get ready for a great time.

Once again, the entertainment line up is great with Disney's High School Musical, the Beach Boys, the Temptations, the Four Tops, Frankie Avalon, Bobby Rydell, Fabian, Sonny Turner, the lead signer for the Platters, Kraig Parket as Elvis, Papa Do Run Run, Gary Puckett of the Union Gap, Grass Roots, The Village People, the Neil Diamond tribute band, Fantastic Diamond, and the Abba Tribute band, Abbacadabra.  WOW.

Lots of show and shines to be able to see the classic cars up close and plenty of opportunity to see the cars in action during the HAN cruises.  This is truly a must go to must see event.

Lake Tahoe Music Festival

Last evening we attended the Lake Tahoe Music Festival at Old Greenwood just outside Truckee, CA.  This is the festivals 27th year and it just keeps getting better.  The festival is a 501 (c) non-profit organization that provides music from Bach to Blues and Beyond.  Money raised is used to create educational and performance opportunities for aspiring young musicians.  Last night the performance was by Huey Lewis and the News.  They have always been a great band and have a huge following in the bay area.  This concert rocked!

Following is a list of the remaining concerts:

August 1st - Boz Scaggs - Old Greenwood Resort

August 6th - The Yellowjackets featuring Mike Stern - Homewood Ski Resort

August 8th - Festival Finale - Reno Philharmonic Orchestra - Homewood Ski Resort

If you are in the Reno-Tahoe area around this time you need to check these concerts out.  The are great and support a really good cause.
