Wacky Fun Event!-Spring It On

Every year Northstar at Tahoe ski resort hold an end of season fun event that you don't want to miss. This year it is called "Spring It On" and the date is Saturday April 10th.

Pull out a fat pair of skis or your wildest snowboard and make the daring attempt to skim across the pond without falling in and freezing to death. There will also be live music on at the Lodge at Big Springs deck and on the village stage. Drink specials will be available to help erase pain & frostbite and for those that don't find this too apealing there is also roller skating as an option.

The ponds skimming will take place from 11.30am until 2pm. Grab your craziest costume and join in the fun. All participants will need to sign a waiver and anyone under 18 will need a guardian signature also, get there early to sign up.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three finalists & don't forget your costume will help here!

Rib Cook Off-Nugget, Reno

The Country's favorite free rib festival is back!! This year's Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-off, the 21st annual, will run Wednesday, September 2 through Monday September 7, once again transforming the Labor Day holiday on Victorian Square in downtown Sparks to a must-attend culinary, music, craft and family end-of-summer affair.

The International Federation of Competitive Eating (IFOCE) hosts the rib eating competition and the country's best competitive eaters will vie for $5,000 and the title of World Champion. Last year the legendary world No.1 ranked eater consumed 9.8lbs of rib meat in 12 minutes to set up a new world record.

There is a huge entertainment line up on various stages including Grammy award winning Jonny Lang.

Once again I'll be on one of the beer booths where the proceeds go to the Veteran's Guest House. Come by & visit!!

This is a fabulous FREE event for all the family.

Everyone Loves A Good Food Fight!

LaTomatina en Reno

Only in our beloved Reno, Nevada could such an event take place! This will be hosted by the Club Cal Neva on Saturday August 29th at approximately 6pm. The City Plaza at 10 North Virginia St. will be covered with people drenched in tomato juice as a crowd estimated to be between 3000-5000 people participate in the country's biggest tomato fight.

Admission in to the tomato fight is a minimum $10 donation with all the profit going to the American Cancer Society.

The event will begin at 1pm with street vendors populating Virginia Street between First and Second Streets. Visitors will be able to enjoy food, beverage and live street acts while they peruse for gifts and novelties from various local vendors. Live bands and other entertainment will also be showcased.

The day will climax at 6pm when roughly five tons of tomatoes will spill onto the City Plaza and thousands will scamble to pick up their ammunition for the biggest food fight the City of Reno, the State of Nevada and quite possibly the United States has ever seen.
