On December 1st 2010 I had a crazy accident. I was attending a home inspection at a home that had a basement when unknown to me the access to the basement had been opened. I came from another room and fell straight down about seven feet resulting in a badly broken ankle and a dislocated shoulder.

I have been in a wheelchair for the last five weeks and it has been very educational as to how a permanently handicapped person is challenged with getting around. I know there are access laws that architects and builders have to adhere to however how well they have thought it through in some cases is questionable.

Please always give a hand to someone wheelchair bound that is having difficulties. I am lucky in that my stay in the wheelchair is temporary however I have an extended respect for folks less fortunate.
